Featuring Frybread, Strawberry Shortcakes, plus strawberry cotton candy and chocolate-covered strawberries.
This is a public lecture on First Food Traditions and Rituals in North America, especially California region. This talk will focus on the beautiful strawberry as well as other first foods and flowers blooming in the spring and include stories associate with these special foods.
Lecturer Lori Laiwa Thomas (Pomo, Coast Miwok, Huchnom) is an enrolled member of Hopland Band of Pomo Indians, and descendant to several Tribes in Lake, Mendocino and Sonoma counties. She is a the newly-hired Native American Studies Instructor - Tenure Track for Ethnic Studies Department at SRJC.
